I don’t know many pregnancy unicorns, actually I can only think of one friend who loooooved pregnancy. But you’re right that our kids make it all worth it 🥲 And as someone who is currently six months pregnant I reeeeally resonated with the comments you received while pregnant 😩 Just yesterday at work - “There’s no way you’ll make it to October.” “I was half your size at 40 weeks.” “You’re going to have a big baby.” Me - my other babies were pretty big, I just hope this one isn’t 10 pounds “Don’t hold your breath honey.” And people think they’re the only ones saying these things but you’re hearing them fifty times a day every day and it really starts to wear on you. Sigh. Thanks for sharing!! Sweet that we’re not alone ❤️

I give you full license to punch those people. I doubt they charge a pregnant lady!

Loved reading this! I didn’t have the easiest pregnancy, but I would remind myself of exactly what you said: I should be thankful I can even get pregnant. I had a lot of friends who were struggling with that and so I almost felt guilty for complaining if they were days I wasn’t feeling 100%!

I also used to be a runner and had the hip pain you were talking about. I remember telling my doctor and she said just get used to it. Pain is a part of pregnancy. I remember being mad at her response but nothing I did could reach the pain just like you said I stretching nothing could relieve it. Surprisingly, I didn’t have that with my second now that I think about it.

You’re writing always hits Home!

The hip pain was torture. And my doctor literally just told me I had to endure it. 😓

I sympathize with the hip pain DEEPLY!! Crazy how when those babies are out it goes away.

Truly terrible. And there’s no relief!

I agree, I find every single day challenging. Every week something hurts. It’s so very normal not to enjoy it, and there shouldn’t be shame in that. For me it’s the exhaustion mainly, the mental health too and feeling like a stranger in my body. The exhaustion is next level… I’d love to sleep and just wake up when the baby gets here!

It’s such a long season too. So many moms told me “oh wow it just flies by, doesn’t it?” Uh no. The last week was exactly 100 years long.

YES to this! Even with a toddler, it is going as slowly as it did in a work week. I find it flies for everyone around you, except you 😂 especially partners

OMG the pregnancy exhaustion is unreal. Especially during the first trimester. And the constant nausea I felt. I also prayed just to get through each day at work so I could go back home and lie in bed. I would be in meetings in a board room with 10 people totally spaced out, nauseous and unable to follow the conversation. But, yes, the result was totally worth it! 😍

Nothing like excusing yourself from a meeting to go dry heave over a toilet and then walk back in like nothing happened. And people think women are weak. 😤

Or having to leave the office building during lunchtime because you can’t stand the smell of people’s food.

Oh my goodness, you brought my 3rd trimester acid reflux back, not in reality (thank goodness) but in memory. I had developed amnesia!! lol. This list is so true. I definitely relate to the ANNOYANCE that people feel they are suddenly allowed to comment on your body appearance. What? Since when? Let me grow a human in peace over here.

Oh I know! Writing this post was just bringing back all the reflux memories. 🤢

I cannot believe people made comments like that! Sorry you had to endure that :( I also hated pregnancy but would do it again without question for the result <3

I was sick for the first trimester and then I was in horrible pain and depressed the third trimester. I also spiked my cholesterol (unknowing it was going to be high from genetics) and now have cholesterol deposits under my eyes.

Kristin | For Stitch & Giggles's avatar

Oh noooooooo I had no idea cholesterol deposits were even a thing! What does that mean?

Chanel Riggle's avatar

Sometimes high cholesterol can collect under thin skin. I have yellow marks under my eyes

Kristin | For Stitch & Giggles's avatar

Oh no I’m so sorry about that! They’re badges of honor for you and everything you did for your baby. ❤️

The reflux! It was so bad with my first. It’s so frustrating that people feel the need to make unnecessary body comments. It doesn’t help anybody.

Kristin | For Stitch & Giggles's avatar

Agree! The reflux was probably the worst part of pregnancy for me. It was terrible!
